El medano
One of the most visited places on the region is the national park “Medanos de Coro”, extended over several Kilometres and visible from the road connecting Coro and the peninsula, represents a unique attraction with his huge sand dunes that are shaped and shifted by the wind.
The city of Coro
Falcon’s capital region was declared in 1993 by UNESCO “World Cultural Heritage”. In Venezuela Coro was the first city to be funded in 1527, capital up to 1576 nowadays keeps from that time a well preserved Colonial Area or “Casco Viejo”. The characteristic colours and nice squares with old churches are giving a particular feeling to the city. Some of the old buildings are open to the public, the most interesting are:
